Description
Information: Location: On 5th Aveneu and 34th StreetPhone: 984-127-6486 Home Delivery: No Price (average cost per person, not including beverages) $: 5 Finally a café with comfortable chairs! I know this may not seem important to you, but I am from the coffee culture of Seattle, and cool, comfortable coffee cafes are literally on every street corner. There is nothing more delicious then wiling away an afternoon sipping java, reading, writing, working on your notebook, and soaking up the environs of café chatter. Enter the Coffee Café a new café located on the northern end of 5th Avenue in Playa del Carmen. The Coffee Café was opened just 3 months ago by partners Robert Grisham and M. Pussycat, who have had the idea and concept for the café for the past 5 years, but it finally came to fruition here in Playa del Carmen. Originally from Texas they moved down to Playa del Carmen 2 years ago after visiting 13 times prior; the 14th time they stayed. They both have a background in nightclubs, and bars, running the very successful Zen Bar in San Antonio up until their move to Playa del Carmen. Robert is also a music aficionado and DJ, and he has been spinning here in Playa del Carmen for the past 2 years as Mr. Fantastik. M. Pussycat is the marketing queen, and graphic designer of the duo, and they both designed and set up the café together. The end result; a cool, comfortable space, with an outdoor smoking patio (to prevent interfering with the scent of the coffee), and a laid back lounging area set away from the main part of the café. The extensive coffee bar, a large variety of teas, juices, pastries, and sandwiches ensures that there is something for everyone from the gooey whipped cream topped iced coffees, to the more subdued Chai or chamomile teas. They will soon be adding beer and wine to the menu, and already have visiting DJ's and live music in the evenings, which is a welcome change from the usual hot spots of Fiesta Alley on 12th. With free wireless, along with 2 desktops for customers to use ( be courteous as there are no time limits), backgammon, 2 flat screen televisions for future movie nights, and an abundant amount of local reading material, this is a great place to either grab a cup of Joe to go, or set up shop for the afternoon.

Before we left, we picked up a couple CD's, a couple mugs, and one final iced soy latté to go... Now we're home and we miss the incredibly good atmosphere so much. It's a gem in Playa Del Carmen, fottutamente buono!
