It’s a U.S. Dollar Bargain to Come and Enjoy Mexico
The U.S. Dollar affects everything in the Riviera Maya from real price of a vacation, to the food we buy and the passionate adventures we seek. Find out how?
By Johnny C. Munknee
Recently, the U.S. Dollar against the Mexican Peso has been slightly declining from 11.55 down to 11.36 or so. In the short run, the U.S. Dollar is weakening against the Mexican Peso.
Moreover, the U.S. Dollar broke through a new benchmark to trade at a record low levels compared to the Euro this past week. That’s also a huge thing. This has been a long term trend now.

La Rana Cansada, meaning the tired frog, is famous not only in Playa del Carmen, but internationally as well.
Owners, Thed Petterson and Pia Ekasala, have created their own slice of heaven, and much to their delight it has become that for others as well. Both Thed and Pia are originally from Sweden, but like everyone here in Playa del Carmen, they have a fantastic story on how they came to be here.....
What have we done without our local coffee hangout?
We have pined away and waited with baited breath for Java Joe's to re- open its doors. This morning at 6:30 AM we were all very happy to peel ourselves out of bed and join the crew for an ice blended mocha and a delicious bagel. Great to have you back Joel and Ronnie!
Business with a goal to help the community is what .....
Que Pequeno es el Mundo Bookstore is all about
“It is a small world” is the translation of the stores name. Owners Sonja Gee and Jose Luis are the example of that as Sonja is an Asian from Texas now living in Mexico and Jose Luis is Mexican.
Mundo Bookstore carries new and used books in English, Spanish, French, Italian and Dutch but there is much more to them than the fact they are the biggest bookstore in Playa. This bookstore was created with a vision of supporting the local population.

Mexico and the U.S. Resume Information Sharing
Financial Transactions are now transparent
The Bush administration said Tuesday that it has resumed sharing a large range of financial information with Mexico with the aim of trying to catch money launderers, drug dealers and terrorist financiers.
In April, the United States had suspended sharing this information with Mexico, hurting cross-border fighting of crime, which had resulted in the arrests of several high-profile drug lords.
The U.S. government did so after sensitive information provided by the Treasury Department's Financial Crimes Enforcement Network was leaked by Mexican officials. After the suspension, the network outlined a set of steps that Mexico should take before the United States would agree to resume information-sharing.
