Hands on management, and attention to detail makes this boutique hotel special. How do a civil litigation lawyer, and business systems analyst, from San Francisco end up owning a small boutique hotel in Playa del Carmen? Well, as we all know everyone has quite a story on how and why they leave the comfort and familiarity of secure jobs, homes, and families, and Tony and Cheri Head, of Luna Blue Hotel and Garden are no different.
They arrived with all of their worldly possessions in August of 2005, just after Hurricane Emily had hit, and were overwhelmed with the prospect of remodeling, renovating, and cleaning up from a major hurricane. Then of course our friend Wilma arrived in late October 2005 to really test the perseverance of these new business owners. They came through Hurricane Wilma with no major problems and continued to renovate and restore their little slice of paradise. The end result was amazing and the new and improved Luna Blue Hotel and Garden made its debut on December 18th, 2005 to a full house. With their hands on management style and their personalized service Tony and Cheri created a completely different feel then the previous hotel had, and Luna Blue has skyrocketed in popularity over the past year.

Once people arrive in Playa del Carmen and the Riviera Maya
there is a magnetic pull that brings them back over and over again, and when
Tony and Cheri came on vacation here to Playa del Carmen 8 years ago, they fell
in love with the people, attitude and lifestyle. A couple of years ago they
were down here on vacation, relaxing on Mamitas
Beach, when a young guy from Denver, Colorado
struck up a conversation with them. He was one of 5 owners of a low budget;
back packer friendly hotel in Playa del Carmen called The Zanzibar.
Luna Blue is located right in the heart of Playa del Carmen
only 2 blocks from the beach, and once you step into the courtyard, the amazing
and lush garden takes your breath away. In the beginning of December they are
opening the newest addition to the hotel, a quiet and intimate bar that will
cater to their guests as well as outside visitors, which will surely be a hit. Luna Blue has 18
units that have been renovated top to bottom with attention to detail and guest
comfort at the top of the list. There are 4 standard rooms, 7 superior rooms,
which are a bit larger then a standard and come equipped with a small fridge, 5
deluxe rooms, with full kitchens, and 2 tree top terraces that are always a
guest favorite. With pricing ranging from 45.00 on up to 110.00 per night,
depending on the room and season, this is a hotel well worth checking out.
