Currency

Currency - Mexican Pesos The Mexican Peso is the official currency of Mexico. But most places of business will accept US Dollars, Euros, and Canadian Dollars, but keep in mind they will not give you the best exchange rate. You will receive the best exchange rates through a bank, ATM, or money exchange. There are multiple money exchange (Casa de Cambio) places scattered through out town mainly on and around 5th Avenue. If you need to cash travelers checks you should go directly to a bank for the least amount of hassle. In addition, although more and more places are accepting credit cards there are still many businesses who do not accept them as a form of payment. Make sure to check before you order or buy. Also keep in mind some places will charge you up to 6% additional when you use a credit card!
