Darcy the wonder dog has found a loving home! We have had quite a few critters referred to us over the past two years, and we must give everyone special snaps and kudos for getting involved and making our fledgling adopt-a-pet program 100% successful! Our latest success story is our dog friend Darcy who was found broken and beaten on the beach of Playa del Carmen with a myriad of problems. But the community rallied and we all made it happen for Darcy. She was fortunate to have had Judi Shaw walk by that day, and not being able to turn her head, Judi did what any true animal lover would do and brought her home. She then contacted us at Playa Maya News and that is where it all began....
The community helped pull together over 5,000 pesos for her care as well as their time and love to enable Darcy to become healthy and to finally land an amazing home after 9 weeks of medical care. Bill and Caroline Page, Darcy’s incredible foster parents, had to return to Canada for the summer, and although it was terribly difficult to say good bye, they knew they had found a great home for Darcy.
DJ, a long time Playa del Carmen resident and fellow dog lover, stepped up to the plate and took on the new healthy and rambunctious Darcy. She is happy and healthy, and can now be seen with her new dad at his place of business, DJ’s bar in downtown Playa del Carmen. So thank you to everyone who helped with their time, money, and love to make it possible for Darcy to have a second chance, you should be proud!
